About Concrete Desert Kids!

Concrete Desert Kids! is a new podcast featuring stories and poetry from across the globe written for children. To submit a children's story or poem for consideration, here are the guidelines:

  • Stories and poetry should be appropriate for kids ages 4-10.

  • Stories should be between 600 and 1500 words.

  • You may submit up to 5 poems.

  • We highly encourage #ownvoices submissions.

  • We also accept audio recordings of stories and poems.

  • Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please do withdraw your work if accepted elsewhere.

  • Multiple submissions are not accepted. Please wait to hear back from us about a submission before submitting more work

All accepted work will be produced into a podcast and featured on our website with accompanying educational activities designed by CSUSB's future teachers.

Concrete Desert Kids! requests the right to produce an audio version of your work and then house it on our website, so we are requesting electronic and audio rights. Because we will also be featuring a text version of your work alongside the podcast, we are asking for archival rights, as well. Please do not submit your work if you do not own the content OR you do not wish to grant us these rights.

Unfortunately, we cannot pay contributors at this time, but we can help promote your work through various website and social media features.

The potential possibilities of any child are the most intriguing and stimulating in all creation.
